Now that the strife is over and Nigerians have spoken in very loud voices and the President says he has heard their voices clearly,the time has come for us to put a number of issues in proper perspective.
Since the President has maintained that there is no going back on Fuel Subsidy removal, it is timely to mention that if indeed the Presidency desires to RENEW THE HOPE of Nigerians,there is need to SUBSIDISE THE COST of all other items that the Citizens need for their everyday living.
Specifically,despite the abolition of duties and levies on Food Items,drugs and several others,it is necessary to directly import food the way Petroleum Products are done and their prices directly subsidised.
Although the State Governors are vested constitutionally with the expenditure of Federal Allocations, there should be a way of carrying out oversight functions.
The Coordinating Minister of the Economy should be given the additional responsibility of inspecting the Account Books of the Governors and indeed the Local Governments.
If a new Ministry is needed to discharge this function,let it be created.
