Inspite of the boost in the Federal Revenue of Nigeria as a result of the removal of Fuel Subsidy to the extent that States and Local Governments have had their Monthly Allocations raised significantly,we are yet to see this additional revenues translate into better life for the Citizens.
Records show that the Federation Revenue rose from 872.55Billion Naira in April 2023 to a Monthly Inflow of over One Trillion Naira in November 2023.
Available Records also show that States and Local Governments duly received their Allocations in the periods under review.
TOASTLINE MAGAZINE is of the opinion that Since there is a Minister for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs,the expenditure patterns of the States should be looked into more so as the President and the National Assembly have constitutional powers to "oversight" the states.
This call has become necessary against the background that the State Governor's powers are too ALMIGHTY.
